Programs of Study

The innovative spirit of GSLIS is reflected in the design and delivery of our academic programs. Core courses provide a strong foundation for a career in LIS, and a broad array of electives allows students to design their own programs of study. Areas of emphasis include:
- information organization and knowledge representation (including a specialization in Data Curation)
- information resources, uses, and users
- information systems
- history, economics, and policy
- management and evaluation
- social, community, and organizational informatics (including the Certificate in Community Informatics)
- special collections coursework and apprenticeship programs that lead to a Certificate in Special Collections librarianship
- youth literature and services (including K-12 Library Information Specialist Certification)
Our students also enjoy flexibility in course scheduling options. For the M.S. and C.A.S., you may enroll full time or part time and take courses on campus, through our LEEP online education option, or a combination of both.
