Dunbar will give a presentation for the GSLIS community titled, "Real Talk, Real Possibilities, and Real Opportunities for Creating LIS Diversity and Inclusion Realities."</p><p>Dunbar is an independent contractor working on projects ranging from instructional design for corporate clients to providing adjunct graduate library science instruction in the areas of information literacy, library management, and archival studies. He is also a consultant in the area of diversity and inclusion, most recently working with diversity advocate Chicago United.</p><p>Dunbar's education has given him an opportunity to work with diverse groups with disparate missions in locations such as Chicago, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles while completing both his MLIS and PhD at the University of California, Los Angeles along with his MEd from the University of Utah. His diversity expertise also includes three completed equal employment opportunity courses from The Defense Employment Opportunity Management Institute.</p><p>Dunbar's commitment to diversity and inclusion is quite evident in his dissertation, publications, conference presentations, invited talks, committee participation, and community service. Greene, Visiting Diversity and Recruiting Specialist Candidate http://www.lis.illinois.edu/events/2014/08/08/presentation-d-greene-visiting-diversity-and-recruiting-specialist-candidate <p>Visiting Diversity and Recruiting Specialist candidate Delicia Greene will give a presentation for the GSLIS community titled, "It Takes a Village: A Grassroots Model to Recruit &amp; Retain Diverse Populations in LIS Graduate Programs."</p><p>Delicia Greene is a PhD candidate at the School of Information Studies (iSchool) at Syracuse University. She has extensive knowledge of diversity recruitment and advisement, career services, admissions, diversity programming, and activist-driven scholarship. For the past five years, she has worked with diverse populations across various educational levels including middle, high school, and college students with an expressed aim of diversifying the field of library and information science. Her work in the areas of diversity recruitment and admissions consists of serving as the iSchools Graduate Recruiter at the American Library Association (ALA) conference and the Diversity Recruiter and Admissions Officer on the iSchools Doctoral Committee.</p><p>Greene was appointed by the Assistant Provost of Equity &amp; Inclusion to serve as senior advisor for Syracuse University's Minority Graduate Student Organization Program (MGSOP) designed to academically and socially support students of color throughout their doctoral process. She also served as a senior advisor for two national academic diversity programs, C-Step and the McNair Fellows Program. In this capacity, she developed and led workshops for undergraduate and graduate students on navigating the process. Greene has served as a college bound diversity advisor for the iSchools GIRLS ARE IT Program geared to middle and high school girls interested in careers in the science, technology, and mathematics fields. </p><p>In addition to her commitment to practice, Greene is a community-based and activist-driven researcher and currently serves as coconvener of the Association for Library and Information Science Educations (ALISE) Multicultural, Ethnic, and Humanistic Concerns Special Interest Group (MEHC). In this capacity she co-organizes and moderates several panels focusing on social justice, inclusion, and diversity in the LIS field.
