What is it?

The University of Illinois assigns all students, faculty, and staff a unique NetID. Your NetID is your username for many computing resources and is the first part of your Illinois email address. For more information, see Your Network ID.

How do I activate it?

You must claim your NetID before you are able to use it. You will have the option of setting up security questions which you can use to access your account in the event you forget your password.

What is it used for?

What do I do if I've forgotten my password?

If you've set up security questions, you can log in by answering your questions. You will then need to reset your NetID password. If you did not set up security questions, please contact the GSLIS Help Desk.

When does this password expire?

Your NetID password expires annually. Please see Leaving the Urbana Campus for information about account termination.
