Master's Student Curates Exhibit on Morrill Act

October 7, 2009

Master's student Ryan Ross is the curator of an exhibition at the Krannert Art Museum entitled "The Morrill Act: The Land-Grant Roots of a Great University."

The exhibition features the Morrill Act of 1862 as well as items from the University Archives and Illinois History and Lincoln Collections that help to tell the narrative of the University's early history, as it relates to the land-grant college movement.

The exhibition runs through October 31.

One of the leading art museums in the country, Krannert Art Museum at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign houses over 9,000 original works of art—treasures that span 6,000 years and represent the cultures of Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. In addition to its permanent collection the museum mounts outstanding temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
