GSLIS Hosts Chinese Scholar-in-ResidenceSeptember 4, 2009Dr. Xiaozhao Deng will spend a year at GSLIS as a new Scholar-in-Residence. She holds the positions of Professor and Deputy Dean of the School of Computer and Information Science, Professor of Library and Information Science, and Research Advisor of Postgraduate Students at Southwest University, Chongqing, China . She holds a Ph.D. from the School of Information Management at Wuhan University. Her visit is sponsored by the China Scholarship Council. Professor Deng has taught courses in the areas of document classification, information organization, information retrieval, research methods for information management, information user study and service, and research on information organization. Her current research focuses on Internet users' information behavior. GSLIS hosts a small number of Scholars-in-Residence each year. Scholars-in-Residence are involved in the intellectual life of the GSLIS community. They may work with faculty and students on specific research projects, offer guest lectures about their research, and attend the many study groups, talks, and formal presentations within the School and the wider University. |
