WebDav
Connecting to the H, I, or the Instructor Drives on Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP and Mac
Windows 7:
- In the Start Menu, click the "Computer" link in the column on the
right.
- Click the "Map network drive" link in the top menu bar. On the
Map Network Drive screen, you are asked: "What network folder would you
like to map?"
- For the "Drive:" field, choose a letter you don't normally use.
- In the "Folder" field, type:
- To connect to the H Drive, enter:
https://webdav.lis.illinois.edu/NetID/home
- To connect to the I Drive, enter:
https://webdav.lis.illinois.edu/homei/users/NetID
- To connect to the Instructor Drive, enter:
https://webdav.lis.illinois.edu/NetID/instruct
Please note that this URL begins with https and that "NetID"
should be replaced with your UIUC NetID.
- When prompted, enter your GSLIS domain login and password.
- If asked, provide a nickname for your WebDav connection.
- Your WebDav connection should be displayed automatically. It can
also be found under "Network Location" in the Computer folder.
Windows Vista:
- From the desktop, either right click on Computer and go to Map Network Drive from the desktop or left click
Computer and click on Map Network Drive located on the upper right in the navy blue bar at the top of the page.
- On the Map Network Drive screen, click Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures, and then click Next.
- Click Choose a custom network location, and then click Next.
- In the "Internet or network address" field, type:
- To connect to the H Drive, enter: https://webdav.lis.illinois.edu/NetID/home
- To connect to the I Drive, enter: https://webdav.lis.illinois.edu/homei/users/NetID
- To connect to the Instructor Drive, enter: https://webdav.lis.illinois.edu/NetID/instruct
Please note that this URL begins with https and that "NetID" should be replaced with your UIUC NetID.
- When prompted, enter your GSLIS domain login and password.
- You will be asked to confirm a nickname for your WebDav connection.
- Your WebDav connection should be displayed automatically.
Windows XP:
- Click on Start.
- Click on My Network Places.
- Click on Add Network Place.
- Type in the URL for your WebDav space:
- To connect to the H Drive, enter: https://webdav.lis.illinois.edu/NetID/home
- To connect to the I Drive, enter: https://webdav.lis.illinois.edu/homei/users/NetID
- To connect to the Instructor Drive, enter: https://webdav.lis.illinois.edu/NetID/instruct
Please note that this URL begins with https and that "NetID" should be replaced with your UIUC NetID.
- Enter your GSLIS domain login and password.
- A new icon should appear that shows the name of your WebDav connection. You can double-click on this icon to access your files.
Macintosh OS 10.4 and later:
Option 1 (Recommended for speed)
- Download Cyberduck (open source), save to Applications.
- Open Cyberduck
- Click "Open Connection."
- Choose "WebDAV (HTTP/SSL)" from the top drop-down menu.
- In the "Server" field, type webdav.lis.illinois.edu
- Provide your GSLIS username and password
- Click on "More Options" at the bottom left.
- In the "Path" field:
- To connect to the H Drive, enter: /NetID/home
- To connect to the I Drive, enter: /homei/users/NetID
- To connect to the Instructor Drive, enter: /NetID/instruct
- Click "Connect."
Option 2
- Click on Finder
- Click on Go in the top menu.
- Select Connect to server.
- Type in the URL for your WebDAV space:
- To connect to the H Drive, enter: https://webdav.lis.illinois.edu/NetID/home
- To connect to the I Drive, enter: https://webdav.lis.illinois.edu/homei/users/NetID
- To connect to the Instructor Drive, enter: https://webdav.lis.illinois.edu/NetID/instruct
- Click on the Connect button
- When prompted, enter your GSLIS domain login and password.
Please note that this URL begins with https and that NetID should be replaced with your UIUC NetID
Mac OS 10.3 and earlier:
The instructions are the same as for MAC OS X (10.4) except that another program called
Goliath will need to installed first.
Click here to download Goliath from www.webdav.org.
(WebDav does not work on Mac machines with pre-OS X operating systems)
